AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pair of antique cast iron andirons – Orientalizing style / Napoléon III – signed 'XIV' – France, late 19th century – early 20th century

Superb pair of antique cast iron fire dogs, depicting two male busts topped with oriental-style headdresses, typical of the highly fashionable Orientalist style under Napoleon III.
The two pieces display a beautiful period patina and retain their harmonious proportions as well as their carved details: mustaches, headdresses, breastplates, and emblems on the bases.

The two fire dogs are signed 'XIV', an ancient foundry marking confirming authentic production (and not a modern copy).
Very decorative, they are suitable for both fireplace use and interior decoration (shelf, console, bookcase).

Dimensions (per piece)
Height: 18 cm
Width: 7 cm
Depth: 36 cm

Total weight of the two supports: 5.560 kg.

Good overall condition, patina consistent with age, small marks related to use in a fireplace (see photos). No structural damage.

An aesthetic pair, with a striking presence, ready to join an antique fireplace or a collection.
