Two mid-century kidney tables from Germany, model Rockabilly, crafted from wood with a Resopal surface and beige laminate, in very good vintage condition with minor signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Mid-century coffee tables, Germany, circa 1955–1965 (2-piece set)
Offered is an authentic set of two Mid-Century kidney tables, made in Germany between 1955 and 1965. The models exemplify the formal aesthetic development of post-war modernism: organic kidney shape / triangular form, conical legs, and decorative Formica surfaces – characteristic of German residential furniture design of that era.
The tabletops display two different, period-specific decor styles.
geometric linear decor in cream white (table 1)
Marbled Formica decor in light ivory (Table 2)
Both variants are among the sought-after laminate patterns of the economic miracle period, which were widely used due to their durability and modern design.
The surrounding profiles in brass look are original and give the set its high-quality, decorative framing. The conically tapered legs made of solid wood end with bronze/gold-colored painted feet, similar to those used mainly in the early to mid Mid-Century phase.
state
Good vintage condition. Slight signs of aging and use. Clean and without structural damages. Overall, a cohesive, well-preserved ensemble.
Measurements
Table 1
Height 29 cm, length / width 31 cm
Table 2
Height 28 cm, length / width 24 cm
The set is typical of German serial production from the 1950s and 1960s and, in its mixture of organic form, laminate decor, and brass details, is a clear representative of the functional yet decoratively charged living culture of post-war modernism. Similar models can be found in contemporary catalogs of small German furniture manufacturers, often without clear attribution, as many workshops used similar constructions.
Shipping
The tables are shipped with professional and very careful packaging.
