Description from the seller
Kay Bojesen (1886-1958) – Teckel / Dachshund – Wooden designer figure – Denmark - older model produced between 1950-1961
Let yourself be enchanted by this iconic Kay Bojesen dachshund, one of the most beloved wooden animals from Danish design. This official, older model was produced before Rosendahl Copenhagen took over production, based on Kay Bojesen's original drawings from 1934, with the characteristic playful appearance fully preserved.
The streamlined body, beautifully rounded shapes, and friendly expression make this Teckel a timeless decorative object that fits into any interior. Made from oiled teak wood with subtle color and grain variations that make each piece unique. The underside is marked with the official Kay Bojesen Denmark stamp, emphasizing its authenticity.
Feature applied to the bottom of the leg.
This is characteristic of early dachshunds (from the 1950s to early 1960s).
2. Later editions often have: a tighter laser or branding stamp or another positioning.
Wood and finishing
Dark, aged patina with visible oxidation.
No modern oil gloss
Lightly varying wood texture — hand-finished
Loose, wooden tenon joints (no screws or modern glue traces)
Construction
The legs with dowel and tenon connections and visible drilled holes are correct for early production. The head and body have the slightly more robust, less stylized shape of the first generations.
Dating (realistic): circa 1951–1960
This falls within the period when Kay Bojesen was still largely producing his wooden animals by hand.
