Large vessel with TL test from the Precolumbian Carchi culture in pottery, dating to 800–1400 AD, measuring 40 cm high by 23 cm wide and 27.5 cm deep, acquired in 2022 from Germany.

Large vessel with TL test. Carchi culture. 800-1400 AD.
Carchi culture refers to the culture of people who once lived in communities in the present province of Carchi, in northern Ecuador, from 800 to 1400 AD.
Their pottery reached important artistic development, being recognizable by its forms and decoration, with distinctive black painting on dark red pottery with rectilinear geometric designs.
This large vessel depicts an anthropomorphic face in its neck, with a prominent nose, a small mouth and ears with earrings. The body is decorated wit geometrical motifs.
Provenance: Purchased by the current owner to a German gallery. Previously owned by a private collector from Westfalia (1970).
Attached export certificate from Germany and import declaration from the Ministry of Culture of Spain (no export taxes). Attached report of analysis by thermoluminescence carried out by the QED laboratory.
