Qing Dynasty Chinese export silver cigarette case, dating to 1850–1900, hand‑engraved with a three‑masted sailboat, villages and a pagoda, in good condition and weighing 164 g, dimensions 169 × 82 × 8 mm, origin Hong Kong, made from .900 silver with two hallmarks.
Description from the seller
This exquisite antique cigarette case is a true testament to the craftsmanship of Chinese silver artisans. The intricate design features a beautiful sail scene, making it a unique addition to any collection. Made from 900 silver, this piece is not only beautiful, but also durable and long-lasting. This long shaped case has been engraved by hand and shows a three-masted sailboat and some Chinese villages from the 19th century. Even a Chinese pagoda is engraved by the artist.
The case has 2 Hallmarks to see on the last 2 pictures. Unfortunately the Hallmarks are not good to read, but with a loupe it clearly shows 90 for .900 silver as well as a Chinese mark which probably is Hong Kong. There is also a small mark on the lid which I can hardly read. The box weights 164 grams and measures 169×82×8 mm. With its origins in Hong Kong, this Chinese export silver cigarette case is a rare find. Its decorative pattern is perfect for those who appreciate artistry and beauty in their collectibles. The silver value alone is about €275.00, but please do not melt it! Just add this piece to your collection and enjoy the unique charm it brings.
