Antique voorsnijcouvert with lions, in .934 silver from the Netherlands, dating to 1750–1800, comprising 2 pieces with a total weight of 279 g, fork length 24.8 cm and knife length 33 cm, in good used condition with signs of age and small stains, featuring a 17th–18th century Dutch motif of a standing lion with a shield and various Biblical representations in the silver-mounted frame.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Antique front cover with silver fittings. These are executed in a characteristic 17th and 18th century Dutch motif: Standing lion with shield.

In the silver frame under the lions, there are various images, probably biblical representations (see the photos).

Inspected with the Dutch tax/assay mark Z., indicating third grade silver (800/1000).
There are no other certification marks found, but these are undoubtedly 18th-century items! It is not uncommon for antique silver to be unmarked.

The blade of the knife is marked with, among other things (partially legible), Herde and also an antique metalworker's mark: a heart with V.

Length of fork: 24.8 cm
length of the measuring tape 33 cm
Weight: 279 grams

Condition: good with normal signs of use. The pin used to set the fork is slack and does not function as intended. No problem with normal use.
