This is the original Esquire Magazine Holiday Issue/January 1959. The Magazine for Men.

Pages 79-80 are a jazz article by Richard Gehman: "A Triumph of Enthusiasm." The content is about John Hammond (discoverer of many jazz musicians). One evening, he heard Count Basie on the radio from Kansas City and said: "I saw the light!"

From page 98 onwards the content is about "The Golden Age of Jazz."

pp. 98-99, the famous historical photo by Art Khan, in which he managed to gather 57 jazz musicians to take the legendary photo on the steps. Among them were not the least: T.S. Monk; Count Basie; Sonny Rollins; Coleman Hawkins; Charles Mingus; Mary Lou Williams; etc.

p.100-102 Evidence appeal that now, as never before, the whole world is singing, by John Clellon Holmes

p.107-110 Manners and morals at Minton's, 1941: the setting for a revolution by Ralph Ellison
