UNIS foldable Viewer

This is a small foldable 'viewer' bag. When folded, it measures 14 x 7 x 4 cm in the box. This type of device was first used by the military to view aerial photographs. Later — as in this case — they were sold for private use. For example, they were sold as souvenirs to show the home front how beautiful the walks in France near the 'Col du Lautaret' (close to Alpe d'Huez) were. Photos — at the time called 'Kiekjes' — are also included in the box. Because stereoscopy shows vivid depth, it was appreciated. A few bird photos are also included. The dating is likely around 1930.
