Vintage iridescent blown-glass centerpiece, circa 1950–1960, from Europe’s Bohemian/Czech–German area, in good used condition with minor signs of age and two small chips on the rear edge.
Description from the seller
Iridescent glass centerpiece, Europe, circa 1950–1960
Elegant blown glass centerpiece, crafted in optical mold, characterized by a pronounced multicolored iridescence that fades from the blue-violet at the base to the gold, pink, and green glows of the bowl, with a shimmering effect typical of European production from the mid-20th century. The shape is broad and flared, almost like a corolla, with a large, slightly irregular flat rim, made vibrant by a dense network of surface micro-cracks 'crackle' and fine radial veins that emphasize light refraction; the interior features a raised bubble/oval pattern reminiscent of decorative experiments from Central European schools, particularly the Bohemian and Czecho-German regions, where active glassworks in the 1940s–60s (such as those in Bohemia and Bavaria) produced objects with strong iridescent effects and hammered surfaces. Ideal as a sculptural centerpiece or collector’s piece for vintage glass enthusiasts, it is in good overall condition: the front is intact, free of cracks, with only normal signs of age, while on the back of the rim there are two small chips, visible in the photo, which do not compromise the overall aesthetics or stability of the piece.
