Description from the seller
Magnificent original Thomas Edison roll phonograph, produced in the United States in 1903. The body is made of black and silver painted metal, screwed onto a wooden base, with a metal mechanism.
In 1877, American inventor Thomas Edison filed a patent for the first phonograph, a device for recording and reproducing sound.
In good condition, as can be seen from the numerous photos, it should be noted that the state reflects the age of the object, as well as wear consistent with its age and consequently with the use it has undergone over time. Defects or imperfections are part of the characteristics of items over 100 years old.
The machine works and is charged using the side crank, which must be inserted into the appropriate hole in a specific direction; otherwise, it is difficult to insert. But I repeat, it fits well and works. The gear wheel of the mechanism that loads the mainspring is functional, but it has teeth over 100 years old and somewhat worn. Care must be taken when advancing the charge, but this also works perfectly. It’s important to handle it with care, as you are holding a piece of history that is over a century old!!!
