Description from the seller

Message from Escher is the four-part catalog of the Escher collection of Jan Willem Vermeulen – Escher's accountant – which he sold in 1986 to the Japanese Masaharu Kohga. For the transfer, a catalog consisting of four parts was created.

This is the set with the four books. The original box is missing, but an extra is included: a kind of flyer/exhibition catalogue of the traveling exhibition that created the collection in 1987.

The books contain photos and descriptions of all the works in the Kohga collection, as well as photos of studies, sketchbooks, drawings, and woodblocks. This truly offers a lot of reading and viewing pleasure.

Dimensions of four books together: 24.5 x 23 x 5.5 centimeters.
Year of publication: 1986
Number of pages: approximately 772
Condition of books: books internally in good condition, the covers are partly discolored and the corners are a bit worn. See the photos.

Note 1: Printed in Japan in 1986, so look carefully at the photos and do not expect perfect books.
Note 2: the box that was originally around it is not included! So, it’s only the four books.

A great opportunity for the enthusiast. The most beautiful print I found in it? The preliminary study of 'Regular Surface Distribution', Bool 416. It's amazing to see how Escher first drew what he then carved out of wood. The original block of 'Air & Water I' is also stunning. (It appears in part 4).
