Medieval bronze Seal Matrix from Paris with capital letter ‘F’
This is an interesting medieval bronze seal, dating to the 15th century. The seal is of a ‘chessman’ type, engraved with a central device of a capital letter ‘F’. It bears an inscription in a Blackletter script, reading as ✶ P A R I ✶, Likely an abbreviation of “Parisiis”, the Latin form of Paris.
Material: Bronze
Date: Medieval, 15th century AD
Measurement: overall: 25 x 21 mm
Condition: Extremely fine condition
International registered Delivery.
Provenance: The Supplier warrants that it has obtained this lot in a legal manner.
Previously the property from a French art dealer; acquired on the European art market in the 1990s
