Jacques Laffitte, French banker and statesman (1767-1844)
He experienced a rapid rise in the banking world that led him to the position of governor of the Banque de France.
Set including:
- An amendment presented by him: "The Minister of Finance is authorized to borrow, by annuities, at 5% with competition and publicity, an amount not to exceed one hundred million, applicable to the reduction of floating debt [...]"
A handwritten letter addressed to Amédée Girod de l'Ain on September 20, 1831: 'Mr. J. Laffitte has the honor to present his respects to the President of the Chamber and thanks him for his invitation, which he sincerely regrets he cannot accept. For a very long time, he has never dined in town, but that does not prevent him from paying his respects.'
