Description from the seller
Vintage table lamp 'One Gallon Whisky' in green ceramic with illuminated globe
Vintage 'One Gallon Whisky' ceramic table lamp with illuminated globe.
This is a beautiful and rare vintage table lamp, presumably from the second half of the 20th century, made by assembling a bottle in ceramic or enamelled glass in emerald green with a globe-shaped opaline glass shade.
On the shoulder, it reads 'ONE GALLON'.
Large central text: "WHISKY".
Lower motif: Horse-drawn carriage with the inscription 'Dover - Liverpool 1748', recalling the ancient trade routes.
Lateral motif of a Scottish Highlander figure with a kilt and a spear weapon, a decorative element that suggests the origin of the whisky.
Inscription: The globe bears the words 'BAR' and 'ROYAL IRON SHIPS COMPANY', along with an image of a sailing ship (probably a sail or steamship with an iron hull, typical of the 19th century), and the date 'THOMAS W. 1863'. This element suggests a reference to the era of large merchant ships and port taverns.
Style: The object combines a strong reference to the world of liquor and pub/bar culture with a vintage and collectible aesthetic.
