Description from the seller

Important Fetish 'Aklama' Adan Adangbé
Ghana

25 cms

Bibliography;
Aklama, helping spirits of the Ewe and Dangme People from the Study collection of Horst Antes

The Aklamas fetishes are ritual objects of the voodoo cult used by the Ewé and Dangme of Ghana, on the border of Togo.
They are generally represented by small figurines, animals, everyday accessories, or seats made of lightweight wood.
These statuettes are charged with interceding with various divinities called upon to offer believers protection, luck, and prosperity.
Throughout their personal and family lives as well as in their daily activities (hunting, trade).

These Ade statuettes represent the various deities related to hunting, which are also common to the Yoruba and Ewé.

Regarding their use, these objects are found on private altars, but we have already seen photos depicting them gathered in a basket and draped with a piece of cloth, similar to the Vinavi of the Ewé.
