Roman glass globular unguentarium – Eastern Mediterranean, 1st–3rd century AD – Ex Paul Sadargue collection (1924–1942)

Description

Elegant Roman glass unguentarium with a rounded globular body and a straight cylindrical neck, blown in a light blue translucent glass.
Fine natural iridescence and surface weathering, with mineral deposits consistent with long burial in the Levant.

This vessel type was used to contain perfumes or oils and is characteristic of Roman Eastern Mediterranean production of the 1st–3rd century AD.
