We present a beautiful and multi-coloured Stegodon half-molar teeth and its average age is around one million year old. This molar has turned into is a solid dense rock with its biological features replaced by stunning mineralization and fossilization. For example, by looking at its cross section of the molar, one can see different colors and layers which are representative of the original teeth and possibly representing enamel, dentine , crown and pulp chamber of the teeth.
The presented teeth features tall ridges and this indicates that the half-section is the front of the molar. Usually the back of the molar are more worn-off and ridges are smoothed out. This is also illustrated by a provided photo.
The weight of the fossil 2.2 Kg and by holding it hand it gives a good feeling and reminds of the iconic Stegodon which once ruled the forests and feeding on leaves and branches while having enormous tusks. The fossil is compact and easy to carry and can serve as a valuable display items for serious collectors or enthusiasts of large mammals and/or Proboscidea.
