This is the TOMIX 92912 model of the JNR KiHa 02 Rail Bus, released as a 25th Anniversary Commemorative Reissue by TOMIX.
The real KiHa 02 was a small, lightweight diesel railcar developed in postwar Japan to serve local rural lines with low passenger demand.
Converted from road buses to run on railway tracks, these "rail buses" provided an economical solution to sustain rail services in remote areas.
Their simple structure and friendly appearance made them beloved by local communities across Japan.

The model faithfully reproduces the nostalgic design of the original vehicle, featuring finely detailed molding, accurate lettering, and realistic coloring.
