Description from the seller

Edison Home Phonograph – Serial No. 284608

This original Edison Home Phonograph has been tested and is working, but it is sold without guarantee, as it has not been recently serviced. A professional service would be recommended for optimal long-term performance, but the machine currently operates as expected for its age.

The phonograph includes four wax cylinders, though the playback quality of these has not been evaluated. The unit has spent many years as part of a private collection/museum display and has primarily served as a beautifully preserved exhibition piece rather than a regularly used machine.

With its intact factory serial plate, extensive list of Edison patents (1896–1906), and classic design, this is a unique collector’s item from the earliest era of mechanical sound reproduction. It is ideal for display, restoration, or collection, and represents a remarkable piece of early audio history.

A striking and rare example of one of the first machines ever made to reproduce recorded sound.
