Madagascar jasper is a variety of jasper well known for its beauty and color variations. It is believed that Madagascar jasper formed about 90 million years ago, during the Cretaceous period, through the process of regional metamorphism. Madagascar is located in a geologically active area where different tectonic plates meet and collide. This tectonic movement has led to the formation of numerous faults and fracture zones in the underlying rocks. Volcanic activity in the region has also contributed to the formation of magma deposits and intrusive rocks, which were subsequently subjected to high pressures and temperatures during the regional metamorphism process. During this process, pre-existing rocks were transformed into jasper through the recrystallization and reorganization of minerals.
