Description from the seller

"12 L. Silber"; 1. BZ: (Bear and "L" mark master J.W.D. Friedrich, 1854-1863, Scheffler, Berlin No.15), 2. Mark master L.Th. Wendelboe (ibid. No.21 1854-1860). Tremulier line, workshop mark HOSSAUER BERLIN (Johann George Hossauer, 1818-1869).

Melitta Jonas: Gold and Silver for the King, Berlin 1998, pp. 64f, Cat. 2 with ill.

Johann George Hossauer settled in Berlin in 1819 and quickly gained great recognition. Especially the Prussian royal family appreciated not only his designs but, above all, the high quality of his work. In 1826, he was appointed by Friedrich Wilhelm III as 'Goldsmith to His Majesty the King.' As early as 1827, he received the commission to create a tableware set for the wedding of Prince Carl of Prussia, which is now unfortunately lost.

A must for collectors, tea service in excellent condition.
