Description from the seller
Leica M3 camera, complete with Elmar 50mm f2.8 lens, from 1955.
The Leica M3 is certainly one of the most important cameras in the history of photography.
The innovations of the M3, which we recall is the first machine in the M series, although the screw system will continue until 1957 with the IIIg model, are as follows:
New bayonet with a locking mechanism for quick and secure lens changes.
Integrated viewfinder-telemeter, with 0.91x magnification, with parallax correction.
Cornicette in the viewfinder for 50/90/135mm focal lengths, which appear when the corresponding focal length is mounted.
Double stroke winding lever to prevent static electricity buildup on the film; in English, these cameras are identified with the designation DS for Double Stroke, literally translated as Double Shot. In German, this feature is called DoppelZug.
Single ring for non-rotating shutter speeds, from 1/1000 second; with a groove to insert an optional Leicameter to synchronize with the shutter speeds.
- Photogram counter with automatic reset.
Autoscatto;
Syncro flash at 1/60 sec, with two different sync sockets.
Round rear label for storing the used film, initially with a maximum of 200 ASA, then modified over time to 1000, and up to 1300 ASA.
Film loading is facilitated by the hinged rear back opening, a significant step forward compared to previous Leicas with screw mounts.
in good condition
Tested and operational.
