Extraordinary specimen of Parisita-(Ce), a rare-earth fluorocarbonate mineral, attesting to the unique mineralogy of the Colombian Emerald Belt. Historically, Colombia is recognized as its type locality (Muzo, 1845), named in honor of the mining entrepreneur J.J. Paris. The specimen features a prismatic Parisita crystal, upright in a vertical and central position on the matrix, achieving a sculptural presentation. The crystal is in close paragenetic association with well-formed calcite crystals, and the ensemble rests on black shale, which acts as the host rock. The color contrast and arrangement of the main mineral give the piece a high-collectibility aesthetic.
