Description from the seller
Fantastic and extraordinary chair by Jørgen Kastholm for Interprofil in a red beechwood shell, chrome steel frame, and gray fabric seat cushion, Germany, 1980s.
It looks beautiful like a work of art and has a sculptural appearance, while its ergonomic design makes it very comfortable to sit on.
Kastholm initially trained as a blacksmith, but soon turned to furniture design. He attended the School of Interior Design (Danish: Skolen For Boligindretning) in Copenhagen, where he studied under Finn Juhl.
While studying at design school, Kastholm met cabinetmaker Preben Fabricius, who became his partner for several years. They both shared a similar approach to furniture design and were never willing to compromise on quality.
