Description from the seller

Group of Three Ancient Egyptian Faience Ushabtis - Figurines of Afterlife Labour
Circa 664-332 BC - Late Period
This lovely group of faience ushabtis comprises three figures, each modelled in slender mummiform pose with a flat back, false beard and tripartite wig framing the face, the arms crossed over the chest and the tapering lower body ending in a simple base.
Ushabtis are small ancient Egyptian funerary figures, usually mummiform, placed in tombs to act as substitutes for the deceased when called upon to perform manual labour in the afterlife. Made in faience, wood, stone or, more rarely, metal, they typically show the owner's name and titles, often together with a version of Book of the Dead Chapter 6, and may hold agricultural tools and a seed bag to indicate their role as workers in the Fields of Reeds.
Dimensions: 3 IN 1 SET UP TO 8cm x 2,5cm x 1cm
Provenance: Private European Collection; formerly acquired from old UK and European collection formed since the 1970s.
