Name of Breda by means of the turfship, March 4, 1590. Heraugières sends his men from the ship into the castle. In the foreground, Spanish soldiers around a campfire.

Comes from an antique shop and framing workshop in Breda, in excellent condition, ready to hang.
Jan Luyken (Johannes Luiken), (Amsterdam, April 16, 1649 – Amsterdam, April 5, 1712), was a poet, painter, and etcher from the 17th century.
From 1677, he dedicated himself to etchings and engravings, and he gained fame as a brilliant etcher in 1680 with 24 illustrations for the book Origin, Beginning, and Continuation of the Dutch Wars, a popular history book once published by the well-known Pieter Christiaenszoon Bor.
Current state of the print also used in: Bor Christiaansz, Pieter. Origin, beginning, and continuation of the Dutch wars (...), 4 volumes. Amsterdam: widow Joannes van Someren, Abraham Wolfgang and Hendrick and Dirk Boom, 1679-1684, vol. 3 (1681), pp. 522-523.
