A solid demountable castle-table with a hand-forged iron underframe, dating from the early 20th century (c. 1940–1950), featuring a massief pine/fir top in a dark stain and Renaissance antique style, measuring 200 cm in length, 89 cm in width and 77 cm in height.
Description from the seller
Solid castle table with wrought iron base – early 20th century
Description
A beautiful, elongated castle table/refectory table with a solid wood top and an ornately carved base, in the style of 17th-century castle tables but likely made in the early 20th century. The top consists of wide planks with a warm, dark-stained finish and visible flame grain; the straight edges and minor signs of wear (scratches, minor dents, and discoloration) give the table a weathered, rustic look. The base has four turned legs with rings and ball shapes, connected by straight rails with a sawn decorative molding.
The eye-catching feature is the hand-forged iron cross beneath the top, with round discs and rings; this is tightened by eyelet pins, making the structure very sturdy and stable. The ironwork shows minor dents and light signs of wear, consistent with its age, but nothing structural. Its generous length makes the table ideal as a dining table for 6–8 people, but also very suitable as a large work or presentation table in a shop, gallery, or restaurant.
