Decorative hand-painted ceramic pistol reproduction from Italy, dating to the early 20th century, measuring 43 × 12 × 6 cm and weighing 291 g, in good condition with craquelure and minor signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Decorative reproduction of a ceramic pistol hand-painted in Italy, early 20th century (circa).
Suggestive reproduction of an antique pistol made of hand-shaped and painted ceramic, probably intended for purely ornamental purposes.
The body is entirely shaped in glazed terracotta with rich relief decoration and a polychrome floral motif on an ivory background. The surface features a dense and uniform craquelure, typical of Italian ceramics from the early twentieth century.
The shape echoes the silhouette of 18th-century flintlock pistols, with an elongated barrel, a rounded grip, and a stylized tray. The terminal part of the grip features a honeycomb-patterned pierced decoration, which is very characteristic.
A type of popular craftsmanship, probably from central or southern Italy, where such creations were common as decorative objects or historical souvenirs.
A piece of great decorative charm
