Marble pillar fragment with traces of polychromy.
Upper part of a marble pillar with leaf motifs topped by bays.
The pillar is made of white marble with remnants of polychromy.
Drilled longitudinally
This fragment of a pillar was found in Carthage in 1972; an old label indicates it comes from the palace of Queen Dido, information confirmed by the owner's family.
Phoenician period, Carthage, 3rd / 2nd century BC.
Dimensions: height 18.4 cm - width 11.6 cm - weight 2.8 kg.
An exceptionally beautiful piece preserved beautifully.
Provenance: Belgium, Antwerp, D.V.C. gallery.
Previously: in the collector's family since 1972.
