AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Alphonse Mucha (1860–1939) - JOB Collection - Calendier 1897
dimensions: 8.9 x 13.8 cm.
Original colour lithograph by Alphonse Mucha.
Published by F. Champenois, Paris, circa 1897.

Postcard of one of Mucha's most famous posters. Here, reduced to postcard size but still very recognizable. On the reverse side, imprinted 'Postcard - CARTE POSTALE - Post card', and in eight different languages. This is perhaps one of Mucha's best-known advertising posters. This poster established the iconic image of the 'Mucha woman' with her swirls of exaggeratedly abundant hair. 'JOB' is a trademark for the Joseph Badou Company, which manufactures cigarette papers. In this poster, Mucha placed the prominent female figure against a background featuring JOB monograms. Holding a lit cigarette in her hand, the woman leans her head backward sensually, and rising smoke forms an arabesque, intertwining with her hair and the company logo. The upper right edge is slightly damaged, but the image remains perfect.
