Description from the seller
This copy of the original edition in French is exceptionally signed on the last page by Stanley Greene (1949 – 2017), unique and untraceable on the internet. Stanley Greene received the prestigious Eugène Smith Award in 2004.
Very beautiful white publisher's binding with the photographer's name in tone-on-tone and the title embossed in red on the back, with a Chechnya map embossed on the cover beneath the illustrated dust jacket. This is a book from my personal collection, kept with the utmost care. Shipping is very securely protected and international tracked mail is guaranteed. In case of multiple purchases, there is the possibility of combined shipping with a refund of the excess postage paid via PayPal.
Stanley Greene, born in New York, moved to Paris in 1986 and was part of the photographic agency Vu. In 1989, he was in East Berlin and photographed the fall of the wall from the inside, making him a highly sought-after press photographer. He then photographed wars and poverty across different continents and secretly traveled to Chechnya numerous times from 1994 to 2003. 'Today, covering a war is a very personal form of protest. Having witnessed many conflicts, I can affirm that the one in Chechnya stands out for its unparalleled horror.'
Preface in French by Christian Caujolle, testimonial text by Stanley Greene, including 8 pages of journal in English also published, as well as 7 contact sheets. At the end of the book, 12 pages with miniature reproductions of the photographs and detailed captions.
