Description from the seller

Bronze Age / Early Iron Age Bronze Ibex Figurine – With Authentic Patina

Note: Unfortunately, shipping is not available outside Europe.

This finely cast ancient bronze figurine represents an ibex (mountain goat), an animal long associated with fertility, strength, and protection in Bronze and Early Iron Age cultures.

The stylised form, elongated legs, upright posture and pronounced curved horns are consistent with small bronze figurines used as votive offerings, amulets, or decorative fittings in the ancient Near East and Mediterranean regions. Comparable examples are known among ritual bronzes, including animal figures and horse trappings, produced between circa 1500–500 BC.

The base features multiple perforations, indicating the figure was likely once mounted to a wooden, leather, or textile surface — possibly as part of a belt, harness, ceremonial object, or shrine element.

Provenance
From an old European private collection, formed prior to 1990.
A provenance statement and declaration of legal origin are available in PDF format upon request.

Dimensions
Height: 40 mm
Width: 26.9 mm
Weight: 15 g

Condition
Very good condition for its age. The surface shows a stable, original dark patina with light earthen and mineral deposits, consistent with long burial. Overall, the figurine remains well-preserved and visually striking.

Please study the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
