Middle Paleolithic flint side-scraper (Mousterian) from the Paleolithic culture, measuring 10.5 cm by 6 cm with an excellent condition and a working edge, dated to ca. 50,000–120,000 BP and acquired in 2024 in the Netherlands from a private collection.
Description from the seller
Robust Middle Paleolithic flint side-scraper showing clear deliberate workmanship. One lateral edge forms a well-defined working zone created by sequential, unidirectional removals, characteristic of Mousterian stone tool technology.
The opposite face retains a large natural cortex surface used as an ergonomic grip.
The piece shows a preserved platform area, strong patination, and a mature archaeological surface consistent with long prehistoric exposure.
Condition:
Very good archaeological condition. Fully patinated, with intact working edge. No modern damage or restoration.
Provenance:
Found in the Netherlands (river terrace gravels).
Stone objects of this prehistoric type have been collected and held in private collections in the Netherlands since before 1999.
This specific item was acquired directly by the current owner in 2024–2025, the Netherlands, and has since formed part of a private collection.
