Roman bottle in glass
Elegant Roman vase with a handle in blue glass.
Spherical wall with a raised bottom, tubular neck covered with spiral glass threads, and an annular handle.
The glass is tinted blue and features azure and silver iridescence.
The body of the vase features an elegant decoration halfway up, consisting of eight small ears arranged in a circular line, created by pinching the glass.
Iridescent shimmer with multiple reflections. The glass is partially covered with an iridescent layer formed as a result of oxidation caused over centuries. The blue glass, made from cobalt, was very rare during the Roman era.
Roman era, 3rd century AD.
Dimensions: height 15.1 cm x diameter 8.2 cm.
Very good condition. Discreet crack consolidated.
