Ceramic statuette of the Greco-Egyptian god Serapis seated on a throne, from the Ptolemaic period 332/30 BCE, 6.9 cm high and 3.8 cm wide, in excellent condition with no restoration, provenance from France via Galerie B.S.R., formerly in a private collection from the 1960s–70s.
Description from the seller
Egyptian ceramic statuette of the god Serapis sitting on a throne. It is depicted as bearded, wearing the calathos, dressed in a wide pleated toga resting on his shoulders and around his waist.
His left arm is raised, and his right hand is resting on Cerberus's head.
At the back, two columns of hieroglyphs.
Dimensions: height 6.9 cm - width 3.8 cm

Serapis is a Greco-Egyptian deity created during the Hellenistic period by Ptolemy I, founder of the Ptolemaic dynasty.
Provenance information: France, Galerie B.S.R.
Previous provenance history, from an old private collection established in the 1960s/1970s.
