Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Pair of complementary fossil slabs containing Cambropallas telesto trilobites from the Taouz area in Zagora, Morocco, a mortality plate with both positive and negative sides in excellent condition, dating to the Early Ordovician and mounted with a natural matrix; dimensions 685 mm high, 552 mm wide, 83 mm deep and weighing 31,700 g.
Description from the seller
Important pair of complementary fossiliferous slabs (positive and negative) with numerous specimens of the trilobite species Cambropallas telesto Geyer, originating from the famous Cambrian deposits of the Taouz area in southeastern Morocco.
Geological age: Lower Cambrian (about 510 million years).
The two plates represent a rare event of instant burial (mortality plate), with multiple individuals preserved in their natural position on the seabed. Fossilization occurred due to rapid sediment collapse or turbiditic event, which allowed for extraordinary three-dimensional preservation.
The specimens show:
Broad forehead with a well-developed glabella.
Chest with perfectly readable segmentation.
Excellent iron-oxide mineralization, with a dark reddish-brown coloration in strong contrast with the matrix.
The unique feature of the lot is the simultaneous presence of the positive plate and the negative plate, perfectly complementary, which allow for a complete morphological study and a museum display presentation.
Condition: excellent
Restorations: absent or minimal, only professional preparation.
Matrix: natural
Authenticity: guaranteed
This type of artifact is intended for large collections, museums, scientific galleries, and high-level cabinet de curiosités. Mortality plates of this size and quality, with a complete double matrix, are extremely rare on the international market.
A collection of absolute importance in paleontology and collecting.
