The Artist: André Dunoyer de Segonzac (1884-1974)
Dunoyer de Segonzac was one of the most important French artists of the 20th century. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts and the Académie Julian but quickly developed a very personal, independent style that was separate from the then-current avant-garde, such as Cubism.

Known for his landscapes, still lifes, and genre scenes in a robust, naturalistic style, his work is often associated with the Post-Impressionists, and he had a fondness for capturing rural life and nature.

Printmaking: He excelled in etching technique and produced an impressive body of work of over 1,600 prints. His etchings were often used as illustrations for luxury livres d'artiste, including works by Paul Valéry and Virgil.

Recognition: His work was exhibited at the prestigious Salon d'Automne, and he received the Grand Prize for Painting at the Venice Biennale in 1932.
