Alphonse Mucha (1860–1939) was a Czech artist and one of the most influential figures of the Art Nouveau movement. He is best known for his decorative, highly stylized posters featuring elegant women, floral motifs, and intricate designs. His work, often associated with advertising and theatrical productions, gained widespread recognition after his iconic poster of actress Sarah Bernhardt in Gismonda (1894). Mucha's signature style—soft color palettes, flowing lines, and ornate backgrounds—became synonymous with the Art Nouveau aesthetic.
Mucha’s artwork remains highly sought after in the art market. His posters and prints regularly sell for thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars at auctions. Unique pieces and rare editions can reach even higher prices, especially those from his peak period at the turn of the 20th century.
