Exceptionally signed copy by Franco Fontana (born in 1933), a rare signed edition. 108 pages and 50 full-page color photographs outside the text, with texts by Pier Paolo Preti in Italian, in the local dialect, and in English as commentary on the photographs.
Hardcover publisher's binding in beige with an illustrated dust jacket. The book is in excellent condition.

This book was published in 1973, five years before Skyline, which would make Franco Fontana famous worldwide. Franco Fontana photographs Modena, the city where he lives in the Emilia region, and at the time, he was photographing a city where automobiles were absent and where the aggressive shopfronts had not yet appeared, as this book contains many photographs taken in the 1960s. Given the nature of the photographic films of that era, these photographs have taken on a somewhat pictorialist quality and sometimes resemble autochromes, which adds to their charm.

Fontana's colors are dense, intense, and saturated, especially with pronounced chromatic contrast, but these images do not evoke anxiety. On the contrary, they convey peaceful and restful sensations with the beauty of nature, the balance of architecture, and the astonishing reality of everyday life.
