Description from the seller

Ceramic grain container (Hu form) – Han Dynasty, China, 206 BC – 220 AD

Well-preserved ceramic grain container with a lid, dating from the Western or Eastern Han Dynasty. This type of vessel was often used as a burial gift (mingqi), intended to provide the deceased with food and wealth in the afterlife.
The object has a cylindrical shape with a slightly flared rim, resting on three small feet, and has a characteristic ribbed lid with a central opening.
The original green engobe or copper oxide glaze has been partially preserved, with natural weathering and traces of calcification, which underlines its authenticity and age.
