Brief Historical Account
The term Savonarola derives from the name of Girolamo Savonarola (1452 - 1498), to whose time the chair of this type still preserved in his cell in the convent of San Marco in Florence, where he lived from 1482 until his death, dates back.
The Savonarola chairs, also called Dante chairs, are iconic pieces of furniture with deep historical roots dating back to the Renaissance. The name derives from Girolamo Savonarola, a famous Italian monk and reformer of the 15th century, although the chairs themselves were used long before, already in ancient Rome.
The Savonarola chairs are characterized by a unique and foldable design. They have crossed legs that form a distinctive 'X' shape.
Despite their historical form, Savonarola chairs are designed to offer comfort.
These chairs will be perfect as decorative elements in living rooms, offices, or libraries.
They can be used as accent chairs that add character and a historic atmosphere to interiors.
