Rare five-piece Art Deco uranium glass set by Verreries de Scailmont, Manage, Belgium, dating circa 1930–1940, with five pieces including one large carafe about 21 cm high and four flacons about 14–15 cm high, in excellent condition with minor wear and one unbottled flask.
Description from the seller
Superb set of five toilet bottles made by the famous Verreries de Scailmont, in Manage, Belgium, during the years 1925-1935.
These uranium glass pieces, also called ouraline, feature a magnificent molded geometric decor typical of the Art Deco period.
In natural light, the glass displays a delicate lemony pale yellow-green hue. Under UV light, it reveals its full magic: an intense green fluorescence, due to the presence of a small amount of uranium in the glass mixture — a spectacular effect highly sought after by collectors.
The work of Verreries de Scailmont is renowned for the precision of its patterns and the quality of its pressings. These bottles were originally intended for refined grooming sets: they adorned the dressing tables and boudoirs of the interwar period, symbols of an elegant and modern way of life.
Dimensions :
Large carafe: approximately 21 cm high.
Four bottles: approx. 14-15 cm high.
Very good overall condition, light signs of age; a bottle without a stopper (see photos).
