Description from the seller
Spanish silver box/case – Francisco Vera (Madrid), ca. 1930–1940
Elegant rectangular box made of Spanish silver, attributed to the renowned Madrid master Francisco Vera, active during the 1930s and 1940s. The piece features refined relief work with a figurative scene of a folk character, richly detailed, framed by a decorative border inspired by traditional motifs.
The interior is completely gilded, preserving visible traces of the original fire-gilding, which provided protection to the silver and a notable aesthetic contrast. The piece shows careful craftsmanship and a high level of detail, characteristic of Madrid goldsmithing of the period.
The box retains its original hinges and shows a patina consistent with its age, without affecting the readability of the relief or its artistic value. A very attractive piece for both collectors of Spanish silver and enthusiasts of 20th-century figurative metalwork.
