Italy, the second half of the twentieth century.
Artistic sculpture of a dog crafted in solid 925 sterling silver, attributed to Gianmaria Buccellati, one of the great masters of 20th-century Italian silversmithing. The piece features exceptional surface work, with engraving and texturing characteristic of the Buccellati school, which recreates with great realism the coat and the anatomy of the animal.
Buccellati's animal sculptures are part of a highly regarded artistic line among collectors, where each work is conceived as a unique piece of silver art, beyond its decorative function. Models with comparable themes and craftsmanship are documented in historical catalogs and in the private collections of the House of Buccellati.
