Description from the seller

This is a richly decorated or embellished antique shoe buckle, dating from the 17th century.

Details

Dimensions: 43 x 30 x 7 mm

Clasps of this size were often used for shoes, although they could also be attached to collars or bags.

Dating: Similar, richly decorated buckles of this shape are often dated to the 17th century.

Material: The material is a copper alloy, such as brass or bronze, based on the color and oxidation pattern.

Parts: The clasp consists of a decorative bezel, a movable pin (angel) in the middle, and a shaft to which the pin is attached. The rust formation on the pin suggests that this component was made of iron.

Decorative features: The bracket is intricately decorated with scroll motifs and a ribbed or basket weave pattern on the sides.

Shipping method: this lot will be excellently packaged and shipped via DHL through Catawiki's smart shipping.
