Description from the seller

This extraordinary freeform exhibits the rare and fascinating K2 stone, found exclusively in the Karakoram Mountains in Pakistan. It is a unique combination of light-colored granite embedded with intense blue azurite inclusions. The contrasting interplay of white, gray, and bright blue makes the K2 stone a geological gem and an aesthetically stunning spectacle.

The polished surface of this free-form piece enhances the contrast between the fine-grained granite matrix and the clearly defined, rounded azurite patches. These vibrant blue structures appear almost like brushstrokes or splashes of paint on a natural work of art. The elegant design highlights the vibrancy of the stone without distorting its original naturalness.

K2 rock is considered extremely rare, as it is found only at a single high-altitude location on K2, the second-highest mountain in the world. Its origins are as remarkable as its appearance: the unusual combination of granite and azurite makes it a mineral of both scientific and aesthetic interest.

This specimen combines geological rarity, symbolic power, and artistic beauty in a single piece. Cut in a freeform shape, it presents itself modern and elegantly, yet remains deeply connected to the wild, primal nature of its mountain range of origin.
