Description from the seller
A finely cast, hammered, and tinned Achaemenid bronze phiale. The bowl rests on a convex base, from which its walls rise, creating an elegant, continuous curved profile. The interior of the vessel is partially covered with a beautiful green patina lustre. The rim is delineated by a broad recessed ring and decorated with fine vertical lines. Slightly pronounced parallel circles mark a central medallion, from which a tall pyramid-shaped knop rises.
Excellent condition with a lovely green and brown patina.
Persia, Achaemenid Empire, 5th to 4th centuries BCE.
Dimensions: diameter 16.6 cm - height 4.5 cm.
Provenance: Germany, D.W.O. Gallery.
