A Dauno Messapian olla or crater dating from the geometric period with a globular belly resting on a flat bottom, topped by a monumental conical lip.
Rich geometric decor alternating straight lines and curves, undulations, and oblique strokes. Beige and brown pigmentation.
Ancient Greek art - Daunian / Messapian - 6th century BC
Dimensions: width 27.6 cm, height 24.5 cm.
Perfect condition
Note, a minor defect in cooking caused a deformation of the lip.
Origin: Switzerland, G.V.E.
Previously: Old Swiss private collection, vase acquired before 1977
