The Goutte d'Or ! is a signed Martin Parr photography portfolio, first edition in French, published by Institut des Cultures d’Islam, Paris, in a softcover format (42 x 30 cm) with 28 pages.
Description from the seller
Signed copy on the cover by Martin Parr (1952-2025) of this portfolio published in magazine format (42 cm x 30 cm), which is unique and unavailable, whether in signed or unsigned edition.
At the invitation of the Institute of Islamic Culture of Paris, Martin Parr photographed the Goutte d’Or neighborhood, which has a very high percentage of residents of immigrant origin. He did so without prejudice and with a spirit of total tolerance towards differences in culture, dress, and religion, while still maintaining his usual sense of humor.
Martin Parr met passersby, shopkeepers, and people in their living spaces, capturing images that often contrast with the usual French clichés. "His Anglo-Saxon perspective brings a breath of fresh air to an often stifling Franco-French debate." A week before the exhibition's opening, the models for a day were invited to a small reception and were able to share their impressions with the photographer and leave with a photograph of them by the artist.
34 color photographs of various formats, including 3 double-page spreads.
