Description from the seller
This necklace features very substantial 25mm.-5mm. natural blue-green graduating turquoise nuggets, alternating with white coral branch ans baroque segments, sterling silver disc beads accent both ends. The item is 15” in length and weighs 46 grams. Turquoise and coral jewelry such as this hold significant cultural importance, particularly amongst the Santo Domingo Pueblo artisans. These materials were traditionally believed to have protective and healing properties.
The pendant necklace is also a traditional Santo Domingo Pueblo jewelry, from the Southwestern United States. It was created during the mid 20th century. The triangular design features precise inlay work with natural materials including red jasper, white buffalo stone, and turquoise, on liquid silver chain (19” length), with accents of sterling silver round beads and sizable branches of red coral. Santo Domingo Pueblo inlay jewelry represents important cultural traditions that have been passed down through generations. The combination of natural materials creates a distinctive aesthetic that connects to the landscape and artistic heritage of the American Southwest. Last, flowing layered multi strand ‘liquid silver’ sterling necklace, it is 20” in length. Both end clasps are marked with the symbolic Navajo rising sun. Item is older Navajo jewelry with aged silver patina. A historic collection of mixed period Navajo and Pueblo jewelry.
